Our gig at the Bremen Cafe in Milwaukee just became a little more special. We will be part of  300 bands in 30 countries jamming on 11/11 to show our solidarity in the fight against child trafficking and slavery. I just know that someone on Facebook will think this is a radical idea and start to froth, but I guess that will just have to be too bad. I wouldn't be doing these shows if I didn't stand for something. No apologies.

SOLIDARITY WITH THE WORKING CLASS IN WISCONSIN

I was up in Madison over the weekend. Never thought I'd see regular working class people take to the streets, finally saying that they had enough.
I have a rich family history of folks who trusted in the promises and were totally screwed.
I remembered all the struggles and all the labor offered willingly and honestly as I marched. Thought of  the Republic Steel Strike and the Hormel P-9 folks . I thought of my grand-daughter who relies on Badger Care and the Wisconsin Public School system. Her mother is an AFSCME worker. Their futures are not nostalgia.
Greedy workers? How about billionaires who just can't get enough and contribute no taxes and nothing to the public good? 
It has been a long forty year slide. It is time to restore some of those "values" we talk about. It is time to restore some common morality to our public discouse.
Thank you to the people of Wisconsin.

It looks like we are going to have quite an event at AJ's in Ferndale,MI next month.
The more I see of Detroit, the more I like. Maybe it is reminiscent of the industrial Chicago that I grew up in. It could be the survivor spirit that reveals the essence of the American soul. Anyway, proud to be a small part of it.August 12th Mike hosts UAW night with Dignitary Attendees: (subject to change and confirmation) MI Governor Granholm, Butch Hollowell ,Detroit Mayor Bing, Bob King, Pres. UAW, Cal Rapson, ret. UAW VP AFL-CIO. and hopefully lots of  union folks.
